Living organisms have several characteristics that distinguish them from non-living entities. Firstly, living things are made up of one or more cells, which are the basic units of life. They are able to carry out metabolic processes such as respiration, digestion, and excretion.
Living things also have the ability to respond to stimuli in their environment and maintain homeostasis, which means that they are able to regulate their internal environment to ensure that conditions are optimal for their survival. Additionally, living organisms are able to reproduce either sexually or asexually, and they evolve over time through a process of natural selection.
I remember when I first learned about the characteristics of living organisms. I was in high school and I had a pet turtle named Speedy. I was fascinated by how he was able to survive on his own and how he interacted with his environment.
I started researching more about turtles and found out that they were living organisms just like us humans! From that point on, I became more interested in Biology and even went on to study it in college. It's amazing how much we can learn about the world around us just by observing and studying living things.
